Full of Ivy depicts the pregnant Black body as a vessel of creation and endurance. Made from newspaper printed on the artist’s and her daughter’s birth dates, it bridges generations and histories. The work celebrates life and love while confronting the reality that Black women in the UK face the highest maternal mortality rates. It holds both beauty and burden, honouring resilience, calling for equity.
